God
God is the Father of all Creation and the Ruler of the universe. There is one God who is eternally co-existent and co-equal in three persons: the Father, the Son and the Holy Spirit. — Genesis 1:1,26,27; 3:22; Psalm 90:2; Matthew 28:19; 2 Corinthians 13:14
Jesus Christ – the Son of God
He was born through a virgin named Mary. Jesus lived a sinless life and gave Himself as the perfect sacrifice for the sin and disobedience of all men by dying on a cross. He arose from the dead after three days to show His power over sin and death. He went to be with His Father God in Heaven´s glory and will one day return again to earth to reign as King of kings, and Lord of lords. — Matthew 1:22,23; Isaiah 9:6; John 1:1-5, 14:10-30; Hebrews 4:14,15; 1 Corinthians 15:3,4; Romans 1:3,4; Acts 1:9-11; 1 Timothy 6:14,15; Titus 2:13
The Holy Spirit
Along with God the Father and Jesus Christ His Son, the Holy Spirit completes the Trinity and is equal with the Father and the Son. He is in the world to make men aware of their need for Jesus Christ for Salvation. He also lives in every Christian from the moment of salvation. He provides the Christian with power for living, understanding of spiritual truth, and guidance in doing what is right. The power to live the Christian life is after the same manner as that found in the book of Acts. — 2 Corinthians 3:17; John 16:7-13, 14:16,17; Acts 1:8; 1 Corinthians 2:12, 3:16; Ephesians 1:13; Galatians 5:25; Ephesians 5:18
Man
Man was created in the image of God. Jesus, His Son, chose ordinary human beings to be His followers, and to be like Him in character. Man is the main object of God’s love. Although man has tremendous potential for good, he is damaged by an attitude of disobedience toward God called “sin”. This attitude and choice separates man from God. — Genesis 1:27; Psalm 8:3-6; Isaiah 53:6a; Romans 3:23; Isaiah 59:1,2
The Bible – The Living Word of God
The Bible is the written word of God to all men. It was written by human authors, under the supernatural guidance of the Holy Spirit. It is the perfect source of truth and an unfailing guide for Christian beliefs and living. Because God inspired it, it is without error. — Heb 4:12; 2 Timothy 3:16; 2 Peter 1:20,21; 2 Timothy 1:13; Psalm 119:105,160, 12:6; Proverbs 30:5
Salvation
Salvation is a gift from God to man through Jesus. Man cannot be saved or make it to heaven in his own strength or good works. He can only receive the gift of heaven by trusting in Jesus Christ as God´s offer of forgiveness. This and only this, pays the penalty of death that man deserves due to his brokenness and sin. This change is called new birth. The gift of eternal life begins the moment one receives Jesus Christ into his life by faith. — Romans 6:23; Ephesians 2:8,9; John 14:6, 1:12; Titus 3:5; Galatians 3:26; Romans 5:1; II Cor 5:17; John 3:5-7; Gal 2:20
Eternity
Because man was created in God’s image, he was designed to live forever. He will either live, forever separated from God by sin (this is called hell), or he will live, forever in perfect union with God through forgiveness and salvation (which is called heaven). Heaven and Hell are places of eternal existence. — John 3:16; Romans 6:23; Revelation 20:15; 1 John 5:11-12; Matthew 25:31-46
Eternal Security
Because God gives man the gift of eternal life through Jesus, we are secure in salvation for eternity. Salvation is kept and maintained by God’s grace and His power, not by the works and/or efforts of the Christian. — John 10:29; 2 Timothy 1:12; Hebrews 7:25; 10:10,14; 1 Peter 1:3-5
The Christian’s Daily Life & the Spirit-filled Life
We believe that it is the will of God to continually grow in the our Faith. We are to work out our salvation with “fear and trembling”. In other words, we are to take the Christian life seriously and work hard to grow and mature. We cannot “add” to our salvation, but we can “add” to our maturity. This also includes walking in the Spirit continually. — Heb 6:1; Eph 4:30-32
The Gifts and the Fruit of the Holy Spirit
We believe that upon the moment of salvation, the Holy Spirit lives in the believer and that the Holy Spirit has many gifts to release through us in ministry and daily life. We have been “gifted” to serve. We should show spiritual fruit as evidence of a Spirit-filled life. Everything we do should be done with moderation and balance. — Phil 4:5; I Cor 12:1-11; Gal 5:22-23; Rom 12:6-8; Eph 4:11-12
Water Baptism and the Lord’s Supper
We believe according the model of Jesus, that baptism by immersion, in water, is an outward sign of the inward work of salvation. The Lord’s Supper, or communion, is an outward expression of the death, burial, and resurrection of Jesus through the symbolic use of the bread and the juice of the vine. We participate to remember what Christ did for us. — Matt 28:19; I Cor 11:28
Church Membership
We believe in “belonging” and connecting in community with the local church of Christ. — Acts 16:5; Heb 10:5; Heb 10:24-25
