So…what’s in a name?
Everything! God has always been very particular about names…Jesus was given the name above all names! He has the name by which all of us can be saved and set free! Names have meaning and we often live out the meaning of our names which is why so many parents spend a lot of time searching for just “the right name.”
Renamed as “Elston Family Church” about 15 years ago, our church was originally birthed 50 years ago as “Elston Heights Baptist Church.” Since our new name and identity, it has been so amazing to see how that has continued to be an influence into the mission and vision of our church to reach families from every walk of life. We have a sign in our office that reads: “Some call it chaos, we call it family.” We have to laugh at times because family can get kinda messy and sticky. Here at Elston, we love the family, we believe in the family, and we want to do everything we can to minister God’s healing and freedom to the family, whether that family unit is a single mom, a widow, or an energetic couple with a handful of kids. Freedom is exactly what we are after. Jesus, the Name above all Names, came to give us life! Not just any kind of life, but an amazing life of abundance and freedom!
This year, as we celebrate 50 years of ministry, we believe God wants to bring more freedom to each individual and family that makes a connection with our church family. The number 50 means freedom and power! And as we celebrate these decades of ministry, we believe God wants this to be a “year of Jubilee” (Leviticus 25), not only for our church, but for you as well. It’s okay, to NOT BE OKAY! God loves you like you are and so do we. He just loves you too much to leave you where you are. We would love for you to check us out and find your freedom. Feel free to fill out the “connect card” if you would like for us to follow up with you via text or email, or if you have a prayer request.
God bless you!
